Mets 7, Braves 2

ESPN.com - MLB - Box Score - Braves at Mets

This Oliver Perez thing is getting inexplicable. Against everyone else, he's basically useless, against us he's Johan Santana. The Braves got nine hits and two runs in 6 2/3 against him today, and that's the best we've done by far.

The big difference today was homers. The Mets hit three, one a two-run shot to make it 4-0, then two in the sixth, chasing Chuck James in one of his worst starts. Kali came in and gave up a walk and triple to make it 7-1 at the time and pretty much end the game.

The Braves did have ten hits, including two apiece by Renteria, Chipper, and Andruw. It's fairly rare that you have three guys have two hits (and a walk by Chipper) each in a row and only score two runs. McCann also had two hits, but Francoeur and KJ both had 0-fors; KJ had a walk, but struck out four times.

Moylan made his bid for the Kali job, going two scoreless innings in a lost cause to lower his ERA all the way to 9.00. Rubber match tomorrow afternoon.
